CEMROS successfully implements a project using AR technology

JSC "CEMROS" is one of the leaders in the Russian cement industry. The company operates 18 cement plants and more than 30 quarries for the extraction of non-metallic materials. It employs over 11,000 people.

One of the key priorities in the company’s development strategy is the digitalization of its business processes. This aims to accelerate the acquisition of real-time data from production sites, enhance worker safety, and reduce human error when servicing complex and costly equipment.

As part of this initiative, CEMROS has launched several projects, including the development of an augmented reality (AR)-based system. This project, introduced at the end of 2024, utilizes the domestic software platform IKSAR in combination with AR glasses. The selected equipment includes Moziware Cimo monocular AR glasses, a product of a Chinese manufacturer specializing in industrial-grade AR solutions.

The project was implemented in a short time thanks to the in-depth understanding of production processes by business unit employees at the pilot sites—LLC "Glavstroy-Ust-Labinsk" and LLC "Serebryansky Cement Plant"—as well as the strong organization and support from the CEMROS Digital Technology Development Department.

The first site to launch this solution in pilot-industrial operation in early 2025 was the production facility of LLC "Glavstroy-Ust-Labinsk" in Ust-Labinsk.

Within a short period, company employees were trained to use the IKSAR platform and AR glasses, enabling them to work independently at the facility.

The AR glasses allow employees to keep their hands free for operational tasks, while the IKSAR software displays step-by-step graphical and textual work instructions directly on the screen in front of their eyes. The glasses are positioned below eye level, ensuring an unobstructed view, and all steps in the AR interface are controlled via simple voice commands in Russian.

Additionally, the AR glasses' photo and video recording capabilities enable employees to document incidents encountered during work, allowing for real-time issue reporting to the relevant departments. The IKSAR system stores this information in a structured, easily analyzable format, linking it to the process, time, employee, equipment, location, and other key data.

The analytical module of IKSAR provides extensive tools for quickly searching relevant information from various perspectives.

Currently, preparations are underway to launch the system in pilot-industrial operation at the second production site, LLC "Serebryansky Cement Plant" in Ryazan. Additionally, discussions are ongoing regarding the expansion of this solution to other company facilities and new use cases, including the integration of machine vision algorithms.
