New binocular AR Glasses INMO X-LITE: compatibility with IKSAR and expert opinion on the device

Today, we would like to talk about the INMO X-LITE device, which we have been testing since September 2024.

The INMO X-LITE glasses are a standalone wearable smart device with its own processor, memory, cameras, microphones, sensors, communication modules, etc.

Let’s go through everything step by step.

The device features two full-color displays with a 40-degree field of view, providing a large and clear image in front of the user’s eyes. It is convenient that the front part of the AR glasses with displays can be flipped up, allowing the employee wearing them to maintain an unobstructed view of the real world when needed. To reduce the impact of external light, the glasses are equipped with additional dark lenses, which also have a flip-up mechanism.

The manufacturer has installed a specially developed operating system, INMO OS, based on AOSP, and implemented access to the Unity platform for working with 3D content.

The glasses are equipped with an 8-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of storage. It also supports 3G/4G/5G via SIM card, along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The Inmo X-Lite is equipped with an HD camera for taking photos and videos, as well as stereo cameras for spatial orientation and working with 3D content. The camera includes a flash, autofocus, and a light sensor.

Device control is achieved through voice commands, gestures, head rotation, a touchpad, a multifunctional rotating wheel with a button, and several additional buttons on various sides. The display can be quickly turned off with a single press of the power button, and quickly turned on with a double press.
In our estimation, the weight of the glasses is around 350 grams, which is quite light compared to, for example, the Rokid X Craft, which weighs 650 grams. The device is well balanced between the front and back parts, fits comfortably on the head, and is easily adjustable with a wheel to the desired head size.

Each side of the device features a speaker, but in our opinion, the sound quality and volume are not sufficient.

The Inmo X-Lite in our possession does not have active noise cancellation, which increases the likelihood of false triggers from commands given by people nearby or from background noise. However, there is a flexible microphone that can be connected via aux, which partially solves the issue of the lack of noise cancellation in the built-in microphones.
The glasses' design does not allow the device to be used with a helmet, which limits its potential business application scenarios.
The Inmo X-Lite frame is lightweight and, in our opinion, could be improved in terms of the quality of materials used. The manufacturer does not make this claim, and we do not believe the device is designed to withstand frequent drops.

We tested the device’s battery under temperature conditions ranging from -10°C to +30°C. The glasses can maintain a charge for at least 3 hours of active use, and much longer in sleep mode. There is no "hot-swappable" battery, meaning the device cannot continue functioning without a pause while the battery is replaced. However, you can connect an external battery through the USB Type-C port and use the device for longer. And of course, you can always turn off the glasses, save all data, replace the battery, and continue working.

The software adaptation of the INMO X-Lite to IKSAR took a short time, and now the device is ready for customer demonstrations and use in industrial environments.
