Beeline Business, in collaboration with the IKSAR team, has successfully tested industrial AR glasses with 5G for the first time in Russia

The domestic AR glasses with 5G demonstrated successful performance on Beeline’s 4G and 5G networks in Russia.

Beeline Business (a structural division of PJSC "VimpelCom") together with Inline Group LLC tested the IKSAR software on the first industrial AR glasses with 5G support in Russia.

The 5G testing took place at the Beeline 5G laboratory, focusing on data transmission speed during augmented reality video calls and the transfer of large data volumes between the AR glasses application and the server-side of the IKSAR software platform on Russian 4G and 5G networks. The testing and experiment also involved comparing the performance parameters of the AR glasses and 5G-enabled smartphones on 4G and 5G networks.

The use of these glasses enables field employees to stay connected and receive digital instructions promptly. The "Remote Assistant" module of the software platform facilitates high-resolution video calls between mobile device users and remote experts in augmented reality conditions. As a result, employees can remotely receive new tasks without the need to visit the office, and they can share real-time and valuable information from the work site.

The new generation of communication, industrial AR glasses, and software collectively implement the concept of the "Connected Worker" ensuring the efficiency and safety of "field" employees.

The main advantage of AR glasses with a SIM card is that employees remain connected regardless of the quality and speed of Wi-Fi, external LTE modems, or other devices, with all transmitted data being securely protected.

As a result of the device testing, it demonstrated successful performance on Beeline’s 4G and 5G networks. The data download speed in the 5G network was nearly 20 times higher than in the 4G network, while data upload was comparable to uploading information from a 5G-enabled smartphone.

Herman Borodov, Director of Key Account Management at PJSC "VimpelCom" stated, "Digitalisation is not only transforming specific types of businesses but entire industries. We are confident that AR glasses will soon become as familiar and convenient for "field" employees as tablets or mobile phones are today. Ignoring technology could not only cause a company to fall behind its competitors but also leave it out of the game altogether".

Igor Gulyansky, Director of Innovation at Inline Group LLC, commented, "We are pleased with the test results, and I am convinced that our solution will be suitable for many industries and businesses. With our solution, companies will become more efficient in all respects, and their employees will become more mobile and confident. Having all the necessary information in the right place and at the right time is the key to making the right decisions and successfully completing tasks".

(3) Due to the natural conditions of radio wave propagation, the signal level between the subscriber’s end equipment and the Beeline network may decrease due to interference near signal sources, specific building structures and terrain, weather conditions, and other factors.
