IKSAR Technologies LLC has confirmed the compatibility of its proprietary IKSAR software platform with explosion-protected mobile devices manufactured by Russian company Mobile Inform Group (MIG): the MIG T8X PRO tablet and MIG S6 PRO smartphone. Testing was conducted using a unified methodology: each device was evaluated by both an IT specialist and a field worker across 14 parameters, using a satisfaction scale from 1 to 10.
AR Glasses Already in Use — Smartphones and Tablets Expand the Device Lineup
IKSAR is a Russian software solution included in the Russian Register of Domestic Software (registration No. 10726). It is designed to digitalize field operations, including equipment inspections, remote expert support, maintenance and repairs, quality control, and commissioning.
The platform supports smartphones, tablets, AR glasses, and smartwatches, enabling step-by-step workflows with photo and video recording, tag scanning, object recognition, and real-time communication with experts.
Until now, IKSAR has been used in hazardous areas with AR glasses featuring the required explosion-protection certifications: RealWear Navigator Z1, Goolton H4000 ATEX, and Goolton C2000 ATEX.
The lineup of devices for ATEX zones has now been expanded with a smartphone and tablet from Russian manufacturer MIG, allowing companies to combine different form factors depending on their specific use cases.
What Was Tested
MIG T8X PRO tablet — an 8-inch device powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SDM632 processor (8 cores, 1.8 GHz) with 4/64 GB of memory. It is available with RED OS M or Android 10. The device features an IP67 protection rating, an operating temperature range of −20°C to +60°C, and a removable 7,000 mAh cold-resistant battery supporting hot-swapping and Quick Charge 3.0. An integrated 2D barcode scanner and NFC are available as optional features.
MIG S6 PRO smartphone — a compact 6-inch device powered by the same SDM632 processor with 4/64 GB of memory. It has an IP68 protection rating and the same operating temperature range as the tablet. The device features a removable 5,000 mAh cold-resistant battery, dual nano-SIM support, Push-to-Talk functionality, and an optional 2D scanner. It weighs 270 g and can withstand drops from a height of up to 1.2 m onto concrete.
Both devices are manufactured in Russia and support both Android and the Russian RED OS M operating system, which is particularly relevant for companies with import-substitution requirements.
How the Testing Was Conducted
The testing methodology covered 14 parameters consolidated into a standardized evaluation form. Each criterion was assessed separately by an IT specialist and an end user, with additional comments provided for each assessment.
The testing covered:
- Performance when running the IKSAR application software;
- Ergonomics — weight, grip comfort, and operation while wearing gloves;
- Durability — resistance to drops, moisture, and rough handling;
- Screen responsiveness — including performance at low temperatures;
- Brightness and readability — including outdoor visibility in direct sunlight;
- Connectivity — LTE and Wi-Fi stability, as well as Bluetooth connectivity with peripherals;
- Navigation — number of satellites, positioning accuracy, and RTK mode;
- Camera — image quality and convenience for documenting defects;
- Additional modules — barcode scanners and NFC;
- Charging and battery life — operating time on a single battery and convenience of hot-swapping;
- Accessories — cases, straps, and styluses.
Benefits for Customers
