On December 12, 2024, several exciting events took place at the "Smart City" Pavilion at VDNH: the first pilot 5G zone was launched using domestic telecommunications equipment, and presentations of the best projects were held as part of the 2nd wave of the 5G Demo Day with the support of the Moscow Department of Information Technology (DIT) and the Moscow Innovation Agency.
During brief pitch sessions, IKSAR product manager Igor Gulyansky spoke to the audience. His presentation was delivered through AR glasses, showcasing one of the production processes. The audience was able to see firsthand how the latest technologies and augmented reality devices work. After the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to try on industrial-grade AR glasses of various types in the demo zone.
Augmented Reality (AR) is one of the key technologies of Industry 4.0/5.0 for processes involving humans, significantly impacting labor productivity, speed, safety, quality, equipment lifecycle, transparency, and cost reduction. The effects are particularly noticeable for enterprises with high risks, complex equipment or working conditions, remote locations, and long production cycles—applicable to many large Russian companies.
An additional factor accelerating the adoption of AR technologies worldwide is the expansion of next-generation communication networks. The speed and bandwidth of 5G enable almost instant complex calculations on servers, displaying the results on AR glasses screens. This opens up a wide range of new opportunities for manufacturing employees in various industries and working conditions.
The IKSAR team plans to continue piloting 5G technologies on augmented reality glasses within Moscow and other cities.
