Assisted and augmented reality for the oil and gas industry

NLINE GROUP took part in the IV Federal IT Forum of Russia’s Oil and Gas Industry “Smart Oil & Gas: Digital Transformation of the Oil and Gas Industry” held on September 19–20, 2018, in Saint Petersburg. The company presented its perspective on improving the efficiency of industrial business processes through the use of assisted reality technologies and devices.
As part of the session “Digital Transformation: Approaches, Success Stories, and Unique Technologies for Effective Integration into the Government Program ‘Digital Economy of the Russian Federation’”, Sergey Krysanov, Director of the Applied Business Solutions Department at INLINE GROUP, spoke about the future of AR solutions and the company’s innovations in this field.

In his presentation, he emphasized that assisted and augmented reality are truly innovative and critically important technologies for the transformation of the Russian economy. Their implementation in industrial sectors opens up new ways to design and optimize processes, enabling better control of operations and simplifying human-device interaction. This is achieved by visualizing various types of digital content and enabling advanced communication features via smart devices such as AR glasses, tablets, or smartphones.

AR technologies are indispensable in industrial environments — particularly for maintenance support, equipment inspections, and operational workflows. They are relevant wherever there’s a need to free up workers’ hands, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce human error. This is made possible by step-by-step multimedia instructions, navigation cues, technical documentation, and other digital content displayed directly in the user’s field of view.

INLINE GROUP already offers the corporate AR/XR platform IKSAR, developed for a broad range of use cases and designed to fully integrate assisted and augmented reality into daily operations. One part of the solution focuses on building custom business process scenarios, while the other delivers those scenarios through applications on smart devices.

The platform is compatible with most popular AR devices and operates via an intuitive user interface and Russian-language voice command module. Its built-in audio-visual module supports “see-what-I-see” and “remote assistant” modes, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
